Stacey Kent, V.M.D.
Dr. Stacey W. Kent is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania's School of Veterinary Medicine. Immediately following graduation, Dr. Kent spent a rigorous year of internship at the prestigious Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, KY. Following her internship, Dr. Kent was hired as an associate at the practice of Dr. Brendan W. Furlong.
During her five years of employment with Dr. Furlong, Dr. Kent became very involved with the United States Equestrian Team and 3-Day Eventing. In 2003, Dr. Kent was named as an assistant veterinarian to the USET. In the summer of 2004, Dr. Kent flew with the 3-Day Olympic horses to England and remained there for the entire training session as the primary on-call veterinarian. Also in the summer of 2004, Dr. Kent with Dr.Furlong as a partner, started Equine MRI of NJ, a company devoted to providing standing MRI for horses. In an effort to increase her knowledge base and experience with MRI and the standing unit in particular, Dr. Kent has made multiple trips to Germany for meetings and training sessions.
In August of 2005, Dr. Kent said farewell to the practice of Dr. Brendan Furlong and moved to Cochranville where she established EQUIGEN, LLC. This practice revolves around standing MRI for horses, but Dr. Kent is still very involved in day to day care of sport horses. Dr. Kent has been travelling to Ocala, FL since 2003 for the winter show season. Dr. Kent has been asked by the USEF, Inc. to be the veterinarian to the horses traveling to Hong Kong this summer for the 2008 Paralympic Games. In preparation for this trip, Dr. Kent accompanied other USEF personnel to Lausanne, Switzerland in February for an intensive weekend meeting about how to manage team horses during the extreme heat and humidity that will be expected during the 2008 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
